American Dad: Controversial?

Unlike most other people, I watched American Dad before Family Guy. For others, it's the other way around, because FG was released first, then got cancelled by the network, until it was picked up again. FG was controversial, because the content is seen to be rude by conservative groups and concerned mums.

Or maybe it's because people thought that FG rips off The Simpsons. Mostly because both shows are set up in suburban United States, with a cast that consists of a disfunctional, nuclear family and their relatives and friends.

During the hiatus, American Dad was aired in the US. I still don't get this. I think AD is more controversial than FG. Peter Griffin's antics are lighthearted and it pokes fun at aspects of American (and sometimes other) popular cultures, while AD is more satirical and focused on the heavier stuff, like war and politics.. and the more risque elements of Western culture.

This is a scene from American Dad, poking fun at the notion that being overweight is wrong, although obesity is a widespread problem in the US itself. And also on US's gun culture.

Wait for this one: One of the funnies quotes that I've heard in a while: "Oversized women drive our economy with their purchases of Garfield books and Haagen Daaz"

And this one, is just straight up controversial. It's from an episode called "Stan of Arabia".

Hmm. Interesting
