Sunset at St. Kilda, Heroes Review, Changes in Blog Layout

Last Saturday I took some nice images at the Yarra. For a change of scenery, instead of going to the city, I went to St. Kilda beach to take sunset photographs. I've always liked sunsets, either taking photos of them or just looking at it with my own eyes. Before I had a camera, I felt like such a deuce going to places like St. Kilda on my own. Maybe people thought the pier is such a good place to jump, and thus making it a favorite amongst stressed-out Asian students who wants to go to happy-land as soon as possible. Of course, that is not true, and there is no such thing as happy-land. However, I did saw an Asian girl sitting alone at the pier.. maybe I should've said hi? Hmm.

Here's a couple of photos. I chose these because it justifies the price tag on my Ixus75. Sort of.


I wish I could add more images for this entry, but then if I have too many images, this blog will look all messy and shit. I know no one actually reads this blog, but when I browse around (yes, I do like to read my own blog), I don't want the sheer amount of images to drown the writings (which, I suppose, is the main content of this blog).

So this is what I might do: Start a flickr or photobucket account, and store my photos there. And also, maybe some of you might have noticed that I added a 'snapshots' tool. When you hover your cursor on a hyperlink, the page will be previewed as a snapshot for you. Pretty fancy stuff. I got the idea from Ronald's blog. Kudos to the guy, who is travelling in Europe right now.

- I've been wanting to write a review of Heroes, the tv series. As chances are I will be at home for the rest of the evening, I have plenty of time to rant on and on about the amount of awesomeness in the show. To be honest, I didn't like the first few episodes, but as I get my hands on all of the episodes (until the 18th episode), I was starting to really like the show. And by 'really liking', I meant watching-5-episodes-back-to-back.

The series started out slow, and it was more focused on the daily life of the characters (who lived normal lives, just like you and I). But when the characters started to know each other, and as their stories become intertwined, the story really picks up at the same time. Sylar, the insanely bad ass serial killer (pun intended), ate so many mutant brains and became extremely powerful halfway through the series. Secrets are revealed, and more 'heroes' are introduced. As the clock ticks away into the prophesised nuclear explosion in New York, the heroes faced extraordinary challenges.. and their adventures seemingly become related to each other. As of the 19th episode, the story is nearing its climax, and the 'heroes' have to fight for survival.. and the millions who will perish in the foretold nuclear explosion.

Awesome.

So what makes Heroes so special? Other than the fact that they are heroes in the first place, I guess it comes down to why we think superheroes are cool. You just gotta admit that superpowers are pretty frickin awesome. Also, the storyline is not geeky at all; just ordinary people realising that they have superpowers, and that they have to team up and use their special abilities to save New York from burning under a mushroom cloud. Ok, it is a bit cheesy (some of the dialogues are tacky as well), but the pace, the plot and the special effects made up for it.

Heroes Episode 19, Scrubs Season 6

Heroes. Episode 19. Best. Tv show. Episode. Ever.
Review of Heroes season 1 (there's still 4 episodes left, but it's nearing the climax and there's enough story for me to rant about) coming up, if not tomorrow, Friday. Probably Friday, because I'm going to this job fair tomorrow night.

I've downloaded the first 2 episodes of Scrubs Season 6 this morning. If you enjoy watching the show, either on the telly or dvd, you'd love Season 6. There's more of everything here: The Todd, JD's daydreams, the Janitor. But I've noticed less condescending speech from Dr. Cox. Hmm. Anyway, great stuff.

Heroes, Neighbours + Youtube links and other stuff

- Halright. I just finished watching the 18th episode of this little show called Heroes. The show is going to be on hiatus until the 23th of April (in the US). Have you ever had that feeling after you watch a tv show that you can be like one of the characters? Like for example, I started to think (for a while) that I could fly, throw spoons at others telekinetically, create a nuclear chain reaction, and after all that is done, be home just in time for dinner. Or after watching Friends, and thinking that you actually have a chance at picking up that hot girl at Union House. You know, just like Joey. Or, I don't know, after watching Scrubs and thinking that maybe you could resuscitate people. Using only your hands.

I have this hooby (more like a guilty pleasure) to watch American tv shows. I've been addicted to the OC, Friends, Scrubs, Lost and now Heroes. I'm starting to see myself as an American. A citizen of the US of A. I'm beginning to enjoy eating KFCs and an unhealthy amount of preservatives-coated snacks. I love the US. Go Bush!

Not.

Actually, I came to realize that my addiction to American TV shows and KFCs is not healthy. I think I should start a diet routine. Like going to the gym everyday and doing cardio or whatever you kids with your celebrity fitness lifetime membership card and your hip gym clothes do nowadays. Or I could eat Subway a lot more. Oh wait, that's still American. (...) What's here that's not American? Well, I guess that Italian restaurant down the road is not American.. what? Domino's is American? Dammit! But back on the topic, to solve my addiction to American tv shows (I still don't get it, maybe Heroes have preservatives on it. Or something that makes you want to watch them over and over again), I should probably start watching Neighbours, Australian Idol, Aussie Got Talent and Channel 10 more often.

- The only thing good about Neighbours is that actually some of the female cast are hot. It's drool worthy, to say the least. I would mute the tv and let my eyes do the watching. Nah, jokes. I'm not that sexist or perverse. Or am I? Halright! By the way, I do think that at least one attractive cast member is necessary to maintain a consistent show rating. "omg, DUH?!"-ness aside, if you're a guy and have nothing to do in the late afternoon. You can turn on channel 10 and start .. ah nevermind.

DragonForce - Through the Fire and Flames

These guys kick so much ass, there wouldn't be any more ass left to kick when they're done.. kicking. Anyway, power metal band. I don't know where they're from. The US, maybe? A lot of shredding. Well, the whole song's a shredfest from start to finish. Catchy, 'uplifting' chorus. And.. one of the guitarist is from Hong Kong! and he likes to play videogames (and uses videogames sound in his music, e.g. from Pacman. Seriously). Enjoy.

Where I download music

These guys over at xxxemoxxxcore.blogspot doesn't have the files stored in their blog, but they do have links to these files at rapidshare and such. A huge (mostly alternative rock, metal, indie and classic rock. Sorry folks, no jazz and blues here. If you want those kind of music, I do have the link to another site) database, frequently updated (like, everday). The bad: some file links are not working, outdated links and shitloads of spam ads.
