"Misi mas, saya mau nanya.. mobil ini punya airbag gak?"
"..."
"Saya serius, monyet"
"..."

They way I see it, I'm like a bum that likes to walk inside auto dealers and ask random questions here and there. About the cars. Yeah.

Udah mulai gak sehat nih..

To be honest, this poster scares the hell out of me. Do you have any idea how big this is going to be? It's so big, I can't even get my head around it. The Film festival is always on the back of my mind, reminding me that if I screw up, so many people will want to hang me and throw away my remains to a pack of rabid midgets. Not fun.

But seriously, please do come to this event. If you don't, I will be executed. Nah, just kidding. But seriously.

This is redundancy at its best; promoting an event to absolutely noone. And if you even go to this blog, mostly it's because you don't like me, and want to know what sort of shit I've gotten myself into this time. Heh.

I had a midsemester test this afternoon. I wasn't ready at all, even though I stayed up all night prepar.. well, not really. So uh, I found this list on facebook. I wonder if it's ok for me to copy and paste it here.. ah well, whatever.

30 Things To Do In An Exam When You Know You're Going To Fail It Anyways!

1. Get a copy of the exam, run out screaming "Andre, Andre, I've got the secret documents!!"

2. Talk the entire way through the exam. Read questions aloud, debate your answers with yourself out loud. If asked to stop, yell out, "I'm SOOO sure that you can hear me thinking." Then start talking about what a jerk the instructor is.

3. Bring a Game Boy. Play with the volume at max level.

4. On the answer sheet find a new, interesting way to refuse to answer every question. For example: I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it conflicts with my religious beliefs. Be creative.

5. Run into the exam room looking about frantically. Breathe a sigh of relief. Go to the instructor, say "They've found me, I have to leave the country" and run off.

6. 15 min. into the exam, stand up, rip up all the papers into very small pieces, throw them into the air and yell out "Merry Christmas." If you're really daring, ask for another copy of the exam. Say you lost the first one. Repeat this process every 15 min.

7. Come into the exam wearing slippers, a bathrobe, a towel on your head, and nothing else.

8. Come down with a BAD case of Tourette's Syndrome during the exam. Be as vulgar as possible.

9. Bring things to throw at the instructor when s/he's not looking. Blame it on the person nearest to you.

10. As soon as the instructor hands you the exam, eat it.

11. Every 5 min. stand up, collect all your things, move to another seat, continue with the exam.

12. Turn in the exam approx. 30 min. into it. As you walk out, start commenting on how easy it was.

13. Get the exam. 20 min into it, throw your papers down violently, scream out "Fuck this!" and walk out triumphantly.

14. Arrange a protest before the exam starts (ie. Threaten the instructor that whether or not everyone's done, they are all leaving after one hour to go drink.)

15. Show up completely drunk (completely drunk means at some point during the exam, you should start crying for mommy).

16. Comment on how sexy the instructor is looking that day.

17. Come to the exam wearing a black cloak. After about 30 min, put on a white mask and start yelling "I'm here, the phantom of the opera" until they drag you away.

18. If the exam is math/sciences related, make up the longest proofs you could possible think of. Get pi and imaginary numbers into most equations. If it is a written exam, relate everything to your own life story.

19. Try to get people in the room to do a wave.

20. Bring some large, cumbersome, ugly idol. Put it right next to you. Pray to it often. Consider a small sacrifice.

21. During the exam, take apart everything around you. Desks, chairs, anything you can reach.

22. Puke into your exam booklet. Hand it in. Leave.

23. Take 6 packages of rice cakes to the exam. Stuff at least 2 rice cakes into your mouth at once. Chew, then cough. Repeat if necessary.

24. Masturbate.

25. Walk in, get the exam, sit down. About 5 min into it, loudly say to the instructor, "I don't understand ANY of this. I've been to every lecture all semester long! What's the deal? And who the hell are you? Where's the regular guy?"

26. Do the entire exam in another language. If you don't know one, make one up!

27. Bring a black marker. Return the exam with all questions and answers completely blacked out.

28. Every now and then, clap twice rapidly. If the instructor asks why, tell him/her in a very derogatory tone, "the light bulb that goes on above my head when I get an idea is hooked up to a clapper. DUH!"

29. From the moment the exam begins, hum the theme to Jeopardy. Ignore the instructor's requests for you to stop. When they finally get you to leave one way or another, begin whistling the theme to the Bridge on the River Kwai.

30. After you get the exam, call the instructor over, point to any question, ask for the answer. Try to work it out of him/her.

LOL.

Listening to music genre that ends in -core suffixes makes me happy. I know it makes me look like a 15 year old, but eh, I shouldn't lie to myself and pretend that I enjoy listening to indie rock. Because really, I don't. If I'm stuck with listening to two music genres for the rest of my life, I'd pick metalcore and hard bop. Parkway Drive and John Coltrane. Oh yes.

So why the sudden jump back to the hardcore boat?

Put it this way, I miss playing in a band. Screaming my heart out and swinging my guitar everywhere was my way of keeping sane, back in 2005. No matter how shit uni is, or how desperately you want to rip someone's head off, you know that by the end of the week, you're a God in that studio. Standing next to a drumset, just right across from the cymbals, you can hear every beat from the snare.. and it made me feel good about myself. I know that once I got out of that room, I can shut out the world. Two hours after you got home from a band practice, your ears are still ringing, and it feels so good..

Nightdrive, circa 2005. Yes, I know this photo looks very queer. But eh, what the hell.

Ah, those were the days. Now all I got is a guitar with a missing volume knob, a broken amp and two hands that are not used to playing heavy music anymore.

Fuck. Whatever happened to my band-ing days?

What's the deal with the censored body parts on Japanese AV? After all, you don't erase the term 'driving' from F1 racing. See where I'm going with this? Formula One, no driving. Diet Coke, shitloads of sugar. Beer, zero alcohol. I could do this all day. Friendster, no attention-seeking whores. See where I'm going with this?

I mean, doesn't censored body parts defeat the purpose of an AV? What's the point in censoring these body parts when, you know, those are the things that you usually focus the camera on? I mean, I don't pay so much to see a huge blob of pixelated.. stuff in front of me.

And by AV, I mean, AV as in advanced video.

Lately I've been thinking about transparency. I did a management subject last semester, and there was this one lecture that always creeps into my mind.. especially in the last few days. Sustainable development. Integrity. Transparency. Integrity. Sustainability. Abstract concepts? Unrealistic with respect to this dog-eat-dog world that we live in?

What am I trying to say here?

Once you're responsible for something huge, you will see that there's a huge, jumbled mass of strings that ties all the factors together. Heh. Now I can see how people can become so corrupt.

..

Fuck. What happened to my writing skill? I'm not saying that I had a writing skill.. but, it used to be so easy. Hmm.

I don't know. Lately I've been sprayed with so much shit, the room is now flooded with.. shit 6 inches high. I guess that's the best way to describe my problems. And I feel like, drowning in a pool of shit 6 inches high. Maybe it would be easier to describe what my problems are. Problem solved.

But.. I don't know. People come to read this blog.. and.. maybe I should make this blog private. Huh?

I don't want to attract any attention, but.. I don't know, I could use some right now. Or.. I, I don't know. I need a break. I'm not complaining, but it's just, things are moving so fast I couldn't even stop to appreciate what I have. If I could just.. slow things down. Uh.. what?

I just need one day where I can be alone in a room with no smoking alarm, a fridge full of Carlton Draught, a carton of Djarums Done, no windows, no telephone and no internet connection. If only I could be rid off of all of this responsibilities, all these attachments and feelings.. and, I don't know, be alone for a while. Not alone as in physically alone, but.. detached.

If I could just feel numb for a day. Fuck, I could use some cigarettes right now. I haven't smoked in what, a year? Should be fun to start again.. It sure is fun.

Meh. If I can keep sane after the 2nd of September, and not go crazy on myself, then that would be great. I don't know how I can keep myself sane until then. I feel like substances wouldn't do me any good, not after what happened last year. So.. Eh?

I need to keep myself together. Eh?

I'm going to go get something to eat, clean my apartment, then I should finish my presentation for tomorrow. Hopefully if I keep myself busy by doing these things, I can get everything off my mind. And remember kids, smoking is not good for your health.

Huh?

Problem solved. There's no drama here, and there never was. I was a bit a jealous about something though. Hmm. But really, it doesn't matter anymore. I mean, it could be worse. So uh, if you want to read a tragedy, go somewhere else. Just go blogwalking from a couple of blogrolls from this blog's blogrolls. i.e. two blogrolls away.

Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking off her clothes.

It's time to come clean. I am here to confess my addiction to binge-texting. If you do not know what binge-texting is, then you're either very normal or just don't care. Binge texting is a term I came up with to describe a long series of text messaging someone, often without end for a day or more.

This may become annoying for the other side. But for the binge-texter, it gives him a feeling of satisfaction and an uplift to his pride. However, for some, binge-texting (or sms yg gak berhenti2 sampe yang dismsin stres abis2an in some parts of the world) has become a favored pastime, for it showcases a person's capability in typing hundreds of characters in less than a minute, and his ability to memorise possibly dozens of weird-ass acronyms, such as anw, which stands for anyway in some parts of the digital world, but for a person such as I, it stands for apa nih wanita, which to be honest, doesn't make any goddamn sense.

Binge-texting is made more accessible through the use of (very) easy-to use handphones. These mobile phones are so easy to use, you often see children less than 5 year old using them. Even though most contain chokable parts. A Nokia phone is a favored tool for most binge texters. Especially those really, really old Nokia phones that doesn't come with touchsreens (tajskrin? apa tuh?).

Therefore, binge texters are most often seen with ancient Nokia phones (from the 90s), and most will wear their favorite 90s outerwear. Even when texting from the comfort of their bedrooms.

How to break free from this ugly, ugly habit:

- Throw away your phone. Hundreds of children in Africa needs them. As does a couple of terrorists for mobile detonation purposes. Don't ask.
- If you use a sim card and you recharge it frequently, don't recharge. Ever.
- Destroy your mobile phone charger.
- Cut off the tip of your fingers.
- Switch to an iPhone. I heard it's damn hard to type a message using that thing.
- Find another person to harass. Preferably someone with the guts to say back to you "STOP TEXTING ME YOU BASTARD"

OR, if you happen to be the harassed side, you can just ignore the endless stream of text asking "LAGI NGAPAIN LO?!" or "HARI INI MAU KEMANA"

In conclusion, some people use binge texting as an excuse for compulsion to press something with their fingers every few minutes (usually seen in Counterstrike veterans, who can't get enough WASD dose anymore), or you know, people who happen to like another person for some apparent bullshit reason.. they binge-text a lot. In that case, just ignore them. They'll eventually find someone else to harass.

Any question?

I grew up with a lot of electronic stuff. I've gotten used to buying new components for my guitar and computer, and watching them fall apart before my own eyes. The best part about having music and computer gaming as a hobby is the fact that you can always fix your instruments. At least, that's what my dad told me. One of the first things he told me about life is that you can fix everything.

As I developed a passion for guitars and computers, I was becoming used to the fact that I have to able to fix them when it's broken. Troubleshooting guitars and the interior of a computer has become second-nature to me.

And now, my guitar amp is broken. I don't know what's wrong it, I've never fixed an amp before. I'm not even sure if there is such thing as a broken amp. I guess you can't fix everything. Not even relationships. And you certainly can't force a square to fit inside a circle, or a star. My point is, there are some things in life which you just can't force to happen, no matter how bad you want it. I mean.. sure, you'll get it if you want it hard enough, but it just couldn't happen. And it's not because of luck, it's simply because the world doesn't revolve around a single person.
I know the world revolves around Paris Hilton, but that's not what I'm trying to say here.

Anyway, I used to have an extra amp, but I sold it to a friend for a ticket to John Mayer's concert back in March. Talk about being stupid..

Secure

I was walking home from uni when I came up with a theory. But it's not one of those pretentious, grand sounding theory about humanity, life and our purpose in life. Melb Uni's Existentialist Society is working on the answer to that question, and a few of them have, sadly, drowned themselves in the Yarra because of depression.

I was listening to a sappy love song by Bloc Party called Sunday, and I recall something I read a few months ago. It's actually something I read on a Friendster bulletin board, but that doesn't matter. My point is, there was this interesting dot point: "When you're listening to a love song, and all that comes to your mind is this person.. you may have a crush on him/her".

So all of a sudden, a bunch of girls comes to my mind. It's like Playboy mansion up there in my head, only you know, much much better. Then I came to think about what makes me attracted to a person in the first place. There are millions of things that can be a turn-on for a person, and all of those depends on the situation and condition. But all of this can be simplified to one factor.

A person will want to be with someone who can make them feel secure. Not secure as in, physically secure, but being the opposite of insecure about oneself. For example, a guy would want a supermodel as his girlfriend, for the reason of pride, ego and the cool-ness factor in getting to have sex with a hot babe. A person will want to go out with a social butterfly for the sole reason of inflating his ego and social status. A person wants to be in a relationship just for the sake of being in a relationship; to be able to introduce his girlfriend to his mates, e.g. "Eh, kenalin, ini pacar gw"

Do you want to feel secure? How often is it that you will feel hollow at nights when you don't have anything to do? Do you ever wish someone was there to sit besides you? Or is it all for the sake of feeling secure, to not be ridiculed, to have a purpose in life? Are we in a relationship to feel secure about ourselves? Or is it to make the other side feel secure when she's with you?

Because if it's just the matter of pride, then we are no better than animals. We humans tend to choose the tallest in our social groups as potential breeding partners (i.e. husbands, wives) just so we feel secure that he could protect your offsprings. It seems as if we haven't evolved much at all if all we look for in a potential partner is his or her physical appearances, because that's what animals do. The fittest alpha-male is an excellent template for a stronger and more adaptable descendants.

Hence, why we tend not to look below the skin. Hmm.

What do you think?

Nostalgia

It's not even funny that I had to ask somebody else to translate a paragraph of English to Indonesian for me. It seems as if I have lost the ability to do so. I mean, when I read something in English, no matter how difficult it is, I read it in English. Anyway, that made me feel weak. But not weak as in "Oh, I can't satisfy a woman!", but as in "Oh fuck I can't speak my mother tongue anymore. Noooo".

So anyway, moving on to another story. I was looking through my old subject notes. And by old, I mean, really, really old. These are lecture notes from my first day of uni. Do you know when you print out lecture notes and you want 6 slides to fit into one page? Well, I didn't know that when I got here, so up until my 2nd day of uni, I printed my lecture notes one slide per page. And there were 20 something slides for my first lecture, ever. It's Melbourne Uni, you gotta be hardcore, even on day one.

First year was a blur. Everything went by so quickly during that year.

I remember my first band practice in 2005. I can't remember playing any louder than that day. I was standing next to a drumset, the vocalist was screaming her heart out, I closed my eyes and there it was.. pretty much the best 6 seconds of my life.

I remember my first visit to St. Kilda. I ended up going there every Sunday. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a friend. But I was certain to go there every Sunday. I didn't have a camera back then. I wish I did. I made up for losing that opportunity by being hypocritical, and so I said "The best camera is up here, in your eyes and mind". Then I bought a camera and covered up my hypocrisy by saying "I've run out of memory".

I remember walking 6 miles with my 2 best friends to get from one end of Philip Island to the other. We took the first ferry there, and we took the last one home.

I'm not playing in a band anymore, nor do I go to St. Kilda that often nowadays, but everytime I remember about these things, man, it makes me all warm on the inside. Or maybe it's just the sheer amount of lubricants that I've been consuming in the last 72 hours to keep me warm.

Ha.

I can't believe I just wrote all that crap.

Anyway, have a good one. And stop writing stupid comments on my blog! Post links to good porn sites or something instead of writing whatever it is you've written on my blog entries.

So.. yeah.

Geek-Rant: My rig ain't underpowered anymore!

I got a 3dmark06 score of 7528. How bad ass is that?!

I figured out that the reason why my PC seems to be underpowered is because I wasn't taking advantage of dual-channel DDR. And now I've got everything worked out.. it's all splendid.

Now, back to gaming..

Geek-Rant: S.T.A.L.K.E.R is a kickass, kickass game. And it's the reason why I haven't slept in a week.

I've been wondering to myself on why I haven't post a blog entry in a while, even though it's been weeks since my last exam and therefore.. I should have more free time to write a whole lot of nonsensical bullshit in this blog. I guess the answer to that is.. I've been playing this game called S.t.a.l.k.e.r: Shadow of Chernobyl. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I like to stalk other people..

Well, just kidding. I don't stalk other people. Really. I don't.

So anyway, Stalker is a fucking great game. I just had to write that profanity in there, because that's the best adjective for describing how fucking fantastic the game is.

I finished the game a few minutes ago, and I got the best ending out of 7 possible endings. Yes, there are 7 possible endings to this game, and I got the best one. I feel glad, because I spent most of my free time in the last few weeks glued to the computer screen, just trying to finish the damn game.

Some parts of it spooked the hell out of me. That's why I couldn't bring myself to finish the game, even though it's possible for me to do an all nighter and finish the main storyline by last Friday. The problem is, I'm not too keen on watching a vampire-mutant creeping up on me at 3 a clock in the morning. That's just not cool.

Basically the whole game revolves around the concept of creating utopia. In the game, a group of scientists built a huge wave-transmitter (in Chernobyl) that can brainwash the world's populace. But it kinda blew up, and it left a scarring hole in the ground and a bunch of mutants where Chernobyl power plant used to be. In the end of the game, your character decides whether to join the 'evil-scientist-group' or destroy the bad guys and presumably, bring peace to the region around Chernobyl.

It's amazing how there seems to be a whole lot of philosophical ideas and heavier-stuffs in the story. You don't get to see a video game that gives such depressing endings; it's contrary to the assumption that video gamers deserve a heroic ending from 20+ hours of killing other people. Just for an example, in one of the ending, your character asks for immortality. What did he get? He was turned into a marble-statue. Ha, in-your-face, Videogame/Console-ish heroic endings! (read: almost all of the games released on all platforms of gaming, except for the RPGs and the Final Fantasys.. I guess)

So uh, why did I like the game so much? Because I finally get around to finishing it, therefore I can move on to other games. And also because it has such a kick-ass graphics, perfect for testing my new videocard. And oh, I get to shoot a lot of things with a vast assortment of kickass guns and rifles. Best shooter ever. Since Deus Ex. Ah, Deus Ex, best game evah. I should probably write a rant about that..

Now, where's that copy of Rainbow Six Vegas..
